Nintendo adds new 8-bit bops.

Switch Online subscribers can now access more than 200 new tracks from NES and Famicom games via the Nintendo Music app, including Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, Wrecking Crew, and a handful of Donkey Kong titles. That gives you some retro tunes to listen to while playing Donkey Kong Bananza.

Chipotle will premiere a new album from Hype House alum Alex Warren.

Chipotle is hosting “one of the biggest and most unique listening parties in music history” tomorrow for You’ll Be Alright, Kid, a new album from TikTok Hype House member Alex Warren.

Judging from his current hit, “Ordinary,” Warren’s music has a lot in common with how Chipotle tastes, so the combo makes sense. The song will play at restaurants on Thursday night, and there’s a giveaway tied to the Chipotle app. Hopefully, it works out better than McDonald’s $1 million Flexi-Disc promotion in 1989.

From 5 pm to 8 pm local time on Thursday, July 17, Chipotle will premiere Alex Warren’s new album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid, at nearly 4,000 Chipotle restaurants across the the U.S., Canada, UK and France.

Believe (in Spotify HiFi).

If you’re still waiting for Spotify’s lossless audio offering, Chris Messina notes that the 9.0.58 update that rolled out a couple of days ago on Android has new changes hinting at the feature for settings tied to cellular downloading and checking storage space.

It’s similar to what we saw last month, but after all these years, how long will it take to turn into something everyone can use?

Saja beats your idols.

Netflix only released the Sony-animated K-Pop Demon Hunters movie two weeks ago, but its catchy soundtrack is already beating out established K-pop artists in the US. “Your Idol” by the Saja Boys — the movie’s villainous and entirely fictional boy band backed by some respected voices — hit No.2 on the US Spotify chart Thursday, dethroning BTS as the highest-charting K-pop band in US Spotify history.

Hot damn.

Look, this cover of “War Pigs” is amazing, and I’m not going to pretend I’m putting it here for any other reason. (Via Rafi Schwartz.) Check out Ukandanz’s Bandcamp for more.

TikTok has a new tune-hyping tool.

The platform is globally releasing a self-service “Pre-Release” feature for Artist accounts that allows musicians to easily promote forthcoming album releases. Fans can automatically save unreleased albums to their Spotify or Apple Music libraries so that they don’t miss the album drop and can listen to them instantly upon release.

The Nintendo Music app has added a sleep timer.

Following updates to the Nintendo Switch App and the Nintendo Today app, the Nintendo Music app has also been updated and now features a new sleep timer for those wanting to drift off to their favorite soundtrack.

A small crescent moon icon appearing in the lower right corner of the app’s interface while playing a track or playlist can be tapped to open a menu with timer options ranging from 5 minutes to 60 minutes.

Getting attention has never been harder.

If you’re a celebrity promoting a new movie or your latest album, you used to follow a standard playbook of late night shows, magazine cover stories, or daytime talk shows. Now you have to do all that and eat chicken wings with YouTubers or give your hottest take while riding the subway. The New Media Circuit is a powerful driver of views, likes, and comments — but does it actually sell anything?

It is Bandcamp Friday.

There are about 8 hours left in the first Bandcamp Friday of 2025, as the pandemic tradition of the music site forgoing its usual revenue share of your purchases from artists and labels continues despite ownership changes and layoffs.

However, it’s no longer an every-month thing, with the rest of this year’s commission holidays scheduled for August 1st, September 5th, October 3rd, and December 5th.
